Bracco Italiano is a dog known since ancient Greece (Xenophon). Selected and appreciated for its hunting qualities, as early as the 15th century it was exported from Italy to the court of the Kings of France.
After a period of decadence between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, in the last fifty years the Italian Bracco has experienced a new diffusion and is now fully regenerated following very accurate selections that have saved its original characteristics.
The qualities that make the Italian Bracco a superlative working dog are the same that make it an ideal companion even for those who do not use it for hunting. In addition to the seductive appearance and the captivating sweetness of its expression, the breed is distinguished by its trotting gait attitude with which it develops surprising speed, the result of a spectacular thrust of the rear. It is bred in strict compliance with its hunting qualities and manages to bring together in the same subjects behavioral typicality and morphological typicality.
It occurs so frequently that the winners in the work tests assert themselves also in the exhibitions for their beauty. It is the breed with the highest participation in trials compared to the existing dog park. Does not present any particular health problems or inherited defects. Unlike some English standing breeds, which have greater chances of great looking and note the presence of prey with speed, the Italian Bracco is slower, but on the other hand can be used in any type of terrain and area. It is a very intelligent and affectionate breed with an amazing learning ability. It is a race with unique qualities both in appearance and behavior and therefore should be valued and advertised more and more throughout the world.
Very versatile, it adapts beautifully to any type of hunting, has a very high sense of firmness. Together with the Spinone Italiano they are the only two firm breeds of Italian hunting dogs. Gifted with excellent character, he is easy to be trained, especially if sweetly by his "padroncino".
It is a dog of strong construction that must demonstrate its vigorous and harmonious appearance as a whole, and is distinguished by its dry appearance and its particular head with an evident suborbital chisel.
The coat is mainly divided into two colors, Bianco-Arancio and Roano-Marrone, but there are also Bianco-Marrone or Melato coats.
